Yeah, it's partly me trying to keep up my with next door neighbors who are stone workers. They were the first people I ever gave a shop tour to that weren't impressed with how old some of my woods were.
Actually, we've become good friends and they have really have helped me up the learning curve of stoneworking.

Well, I guess when compared to stone, wood is pretty new.

Tuner buttons made from old Iberville shale … that would be cool!! Or that black and white rock from the shores of Lake Champlain!!

I agree that would look great and I toyed with using Iberville Shale. The problem was the shale is too weak/brittle and the buttons wouldn’t hold up.

Bridges and Nut set.
Well I've got the bridges and bone nuts all set on these two Dryads. Next week I'll get to hear what they have to say!

The French Polish is done. This finish is about .0025” think or in other words it is hardly there at all. I can here no difference between the tap tone now and when the guitar was green.
Thanks! The outline of that bridge hasn’t changed much over the last 20 years but the contouring has been constantly evolving. It is my poster child for why I try to stay away from jigs. m

Your work is inspiring this novice! Reading through this thread makes me want to go back in my shop and close the door for three days. I'd love to see your setup some time when you have the time. 🙏
