I'd suggest cleaning your kitchen more often. I'm just saying ......

Years ago, before the internet, I was given a membership in the
"Beer Can Collectors of America".
Quite a big deal at the time with books and newsletters and such.
I decided to be different and only collected full unopened cans.
Maybe 10 years later, on a whim, my brother and I commenced to drinking my collection.
We stayed very drunk for a few days but neither of us got sick.

Two stories
------------------
My summer after high school, I was 18 and we were all going out drinking. This was decades before the first craft brewery was even a pipe-dream. Living in a border town we got our GOOD beer at Brewer's Retail in Canada.

I assembled a collection of all the different bottles of beer, like a bar display on my bookshelf. I had probably over 50 different brands and bottles on display - very cool looking in my upcoming college bedroom.

A couple months later I was dusting and noticed a sludge in the bottom of a few bottles. It was beyond disgusting. I didn't even open them (for fear of stink) and tossed them all out.

I suspect beer doesn't "keep" as well as wine or liquor.

------------

My mom lived through The Great Depression and always believed in having a one-year food supply in the house. I grew up with a walk in "fruit cellar" (aka pantry), two refrigerators and three chest freezers.

She also dismissed the idea of "expiration dates" believing food doesn't go bad if it is sealed. Don't even get me started on her insistence on running the fridge at it's warmest setting (suffice to say I grew up putting ice cubes in my milk).

As she got older, she got "worse" this way so we would sneak clean her cupboards when she didn't know it (so she didn't actually get herself sick).

I still remember my sister finding 17 years old salad ranch dressing on the shelf.

Disgusting (and dangerous!).

Nowadays they would ask a premium price in an antiques store.

I used to have a can of "Billy" beer.

Some guy offered me $300 for it.

I don't have that can of "Billy" beer any longer...
