Default NGD! 1949 Gibson J-50

After what amounted to some dumb luck, as well as a bit of a roll of the dice, I acquired one of my dream guitars. From Bob Dylan to Gillian Welch, I've always loved the J-50. I honestly thought I'd never be able to afford a 40s example, but after surfing Facebook Marketplace, I came across this one that was one state over from me. It was an incredible price due to some overspray on the top, but in otherwise great vintage condition. We couldn't find the time to meet up, so after a couple of phone conversations to establish some trust, I took a bit of a gamble and paid for him to ship me the guitar. After some nerve-racking USPS delays, the guitar arrived yesterday and couldn't be better. I love this guitar, and couldn't be happier.

Wonderful guitar. It should go well with your LG-2.

Wow, great find! That is my birth year and it would be really hard for me to not be very interested in a 1949 Gibby, Martin, etc. Congrats and I am sure it will bring you great joy!

Wow, that really is awesome!

I've always wanted a J-45 but I bet a J-50 like that would do me just fine.

That looks awesome! Be sure to put it through its paces for the rest of us. I recently had work done on a family J-50 from the early 1960s and I wouldn't take anything for it!

Not sure what I like more-- the guitar, or the room in which it looks like you'll be playing it. Either way, congrats! We'd all love to hear you play it.

Congrats. I have owned a 1942 J50 for quite a while so although a somewhat different beast I know what you are talking about. The one J50 I would love to get my hands on to take for a spin remains the script logo sans Banner like Dylan played. I have never even set eyes on one though.

There's just something about the love of an old Gibson. It's kinda like an old dog that has been by your side for years. They just fit. Enjoy that beautiful guitar!

BIG CONGRATS! Me too, but don’t forget JT (pre-Olson).
