There are way too many choices for sure.
I own a Tele and had a Strat too. I'm a Fender guy.
I don't care for the sound of humbucker-equipped guitars FOR ME...especially played clean. Tele and Strats have way more character, sweetness and they can still rock. My Tele has a custom wound neck pickup that sounds like the one in most Strats. It also has an overwound bridge pickup with 1/4" magnets for some extra crunch.
As far as the music you play, it's really more about your own ears.
Any decent electric guitar with a good Tube amp and some effects will work for anything.

Ok, so I've been a little busy the past few months. I've read A LOT, played A LOT, and have acquired several guitars. I think I have a problem...

I ended up getting a PRS SE Paul's Guitar (Aqua), Gibson Les Paul Traditional (merlot), and Fender Aerodyne Strat (Crimson Red).

In my opinion the Gibson Les Paul is the hardest one to play, meaning it doesn't speak to me. The tuning always seems to be going out just a little in between songs. But I LOVE the way it looks, my favorite looking guitar by far. Nonetheless I'm thinking about selling it.

The one I keep gravitating toward playing is the fender. My rig and amp (Marshall dsl40cr) sounds the best to me with the PRS coming in second. The PRS has a bite to it that the Fender doesn't.

All three guitars were purchased off of reverb and I've had great success and experience purchasing from there.

Anyway, when/if I can figure out how to upload a pic I'll show you the guitars. Thanks again for all your advice and help!

Sounds like good guitars.

If going out of tune is the only issue with the Gibson, a competent guitar tech can probably figure it out, unless you want to start troubleshooting it yourself. Like, is there just one string that has issues? Does it go out of tune with different strings? Are the strings sticking at the nut? If you don't like that guitar otherwise, just let it go.

Congratulations! 3 iconic guitars and a Marshall tube amp. Sounds like life is good. Agree that sorting out the LP's tuning issues may improve its affection. Best of luck going forward.
