is a 1 7/8" nut too big?

I have average sized hands and love 1 7/8 nut width in an acoustic. How the neck feels will depend not only on nut width but actual string spacing at the nut and bridge, and the thickness up and down the entire neck, the shape of the neck (V C or D), and even the shape of the guitar body to some degree.
