Good eye, Mike. That's some unusually tough mahogany...

Seems like as good of a time as any to post some more shots of this build.

Steve routing the purfling channel in the top plus a little wider view of one side of the shop.

Fitting the end wedge. I'll use the band clamps (red) to secure it in and then scrape it flush to the sides. We'll then fit it to the bindings.

Gluing on the bindings. One more side to go!

Scraping the bindings down flush to the sides. Getting ready for finishing.

Fitting the neck and the bridge. This guys coming together. Ready to finish the body. Now just to shape the neck. More pics soon.

Default Volunteering to hand-deliver....

I saw this beauty live and in-person last week in the new shop and I am going to volunteer to hand-deliver it to Trevor. You can trust me Trevor...I wouldn't think to have it end up in Colorado instead of Brighton... Love those purple bindings. Better yet, guys why don't I just buy this one and you can make another for Trevor...he'll never know!

Thanks Bob. I guess all we'd need to do is get some more Jaguar mahogany.
Otherwise he might know the difference. You will be pleased to know there is more Purpleheart, if the mood ever strikes you!

Default Purpleheart

That Purpleheart might look good on some of that colorful Indonesian Rosewood - got to get back to watching Ryan sanding...trying to find a way to transfer that to the TV in my bedroom, beats counting sheep .

Guitar looks BEAUTIFUL!!!!

If you hadn't just posted that on a forum to which Trevor is an active contributor... it might've been the perfect crime! Dr Evil would be proud

Seriously, what a beauty of a guitar though...

Ryan, on the picture of the top being clamped onto the sides, there are 2 clamps in the soundhole, what's the object of that?
Oh, both the build and the shop are looking great. Gonna have to find a time to see if you guys could give me a tour. I know how excited ya'll have been to get into it.
Keep it going,
Bob

Bob, I think you are right. Purpleheart might look perfect with that IndoRosewood. We'll hold them side by side when we get the chance.

JB, thanks for the kind word.

Bob (I am blessed to know so many Bobs) come by and get the tour. In that pic we are insuring clamping pressure where the top glues to the "L" part of the neck block.

Thanks again guys,

Steve

Thanks for all the kind responses. Here's a couple more pics for viewing over the weekend!

All taped up and ready for the finish. Can't wait to see this guy when it's done.

Steve shaping the neck. This time to better effect!

Here I'm inlaying some Purpleheart diamonds in the fretboard. For our international exports we've been avoiding pearl, so a little handwork with the leftover binding, and voila! Inlays to match the guitar.

Steve carefully routing the pockets for our headstock logo.

Final touches on the inlay procedure.

Back of the neck shaft and peghead to final shape.

Peghead done and the neck is ready to finish as well.

Thanks for following along.

Default Up close....

Up close and in-person, that peg head overlay maybe the coolest I've ever seen. Certainly within the top, oh I'd say, maybe .... One!!!

I love the photo of Steve routing the logo in the headstock. I can relate to that. Trying to get closer with that darn router in the way.

Nice guitar shape - great looking top. The purpleheart bindings and appointments are nice.

Kevin.
