Default Benjamin Paldacci guitars #3: Dread Mod figured Black Walnut/Sitka Spruce

Hi Everyone!

Here is the third guitar of the workshop: a dread mod. Figured black Walnut with a sitka spruce top. I don't know if I'll put a Cutaway on this one, but it is the first time I'll use Walnut so... a nice challenge indeed.

The bracing will be very similar to the previous guitar (the cedar OM), I am pretty curious to see the result.

Body Size: Dread 14-Fret Cutaway
Top: Mastergrade Sitka Spruce
Rosette: Spalted Alder
Top Braces: Sitka Spruce/red Cedar
Back Material: Figured Black Walnut
Binding: Figured Black Walnut
Neck Material: Sapele perfectly on quarter
Nut Material: Bone
Backplate: Indian RW
Fingerboard Material: 1st Grade black ebony
Scale Length: 25.34 inches
Fret material: Stainless Steel
Number Of Frets Clear: 14
Number Of Frets Total: 20
Fretboard radius: 16 inches
Fingerboard Binding: Black Ebony
Finish: Polyurethane
Bridge Material: Black Ebony
Bridge Style: Custom Design

Tuning Machines: Gotoh 510

Thank you for your support, as always!

Look forward to seeing the build progress.

Have you ever built a guitar with a Sapele neck? I really love Sapele, think it's one of the finest tonewoods around. I'd be intrigued to the differences of a mahogany neck which is a little bit lighter.

Looking good, Ben! I like how the rosette came out. Is that carbon reinforcement on either side of the truss rod on that neck?

Yeah, I like the rosette too but next time, I'll pull out the ebony parts and I'll replace them by black mapple purfling... it will be much more elegant!

Exactly, it's carbon reinforcements
