Default Mystery Archtop from 1930s??

I stumbled upon an unmarked archtop guitar from probably the 1930s. The only markings anywhere are the slotted head tuners are marked Kluson MFG. CO. Chicago.....looking into the box with a mirror it has only one tone bar on the treble side, and it appears that there never was another on the bass side. No residual glue or marks on any kind. Anybody hazard a guess of what this could be?

Janpentz,

The "Posting Pictures" thread explains the process. Right now, you are what we call a registered user... you'll see that right below your user name of, "Janpentz." As a registered user, you may not post pictures directly from your computer. If you wish to do that, you will need to become a charter member which you can do right HERE.

If you do not wish to become a member, you may use a 3rd-party host. Imgur is probably the most popular right now. Or you may use the Tapatalk app... a very simple application to use if pictures are available on a mobile phone or tablet.

If you have a question, please PM me or post here. I'll be glad to try to help you.

Everyone seems to think it's a Regal made archtop. But with only one offset tone bar I wonder.....has anybody seen an archtop with one offset tone bar....it's like a violin but without the tone post on the other side. There is no evidence that there ever was a tone bar on the bass side...no gluemarks or shadow of where one might have been......also can anybody tell me the time it was made?? 1930s? 40s?

Here is another one: https://reverb.com/item/128084-montg...s-cherry-burst

I think 1930's is a reasonable guess at the era, I don't place much on the single tone bar, that was somewhat common in the period. The one in the link has a solid peghead, your is slotted in the fashion Regal used prior to 1935/6, when they switched to a solid head. Yours has two different styles of tuner, the lower (bass) ones look similar to what Regal was using in the mid 1930's (Kluson Patent Applied For, bent ear ). I have a Regal made 1935 Dobro, so I have something to compare to.

I think it's a Regal made probably for somebody else.....the bridge is one piece non-adjustable and has a piece of fret wire for a saddle.....parts are really cheap....but then it has a sweet rosewood fret board. Go figure??? The one in the link has the exact same tail piece as mine.....
