The Brewers were looking good all season, they've just lost 6 in a row to end the first half.

This is the best Brewers team in years, 5 players in the All Star game. They have been plagued with injuries the past two weeks, not to mention more than their share of bad luck.

The Red Sox look like the real deal.

You might be thinking of another Mike. Matheny has never managed any team other than the Cardinals.

But yes, you can't fire 25 players so fire the manager instead.

My Aunt died and sold her 50 year season tickets to some Dr.
I saw a late 60's game there with Carl Yastrzemski.
Starting to warm up to possibly rooting for them again.

Who's there and them? Fenway and the Sox?

The Dodgers will get hot at the end of the season, and fold in the playoffs, keeping their streak of overpaying and under-performing alive.

You’re right. I misremembered.

Don't bet against the Tribe. If you know anything stat wise, we have two of the top players in baseball in Lindor and Ramirez. We are right there. Third in the AL in homers and lead the AL in stolen bases. All we need is to get Miller back healthy and the bullpen will straighten itself out. Our starting pitchers are as good as anybody's. Kluber and Bauer are Cy Young candidates.
Go Tribe!

While listening to the Red Sox Game tonight, I got to thinking and did some math.

The best seasonal record in baseball, for a 162 game season belongs to the 2001 Seattle Mariners at 116 - 46.

The Sox are currently 80 - 34. With 48 games left, if they lose no more than 11, they will beat the Mariners' record.

Now, that may sound like a tall order, a higher winning percentage than their .702 record so far - but consider that they are currently on a streak of winning 24 of their last 29 games. And that spans the All-Star break, which often trips up teams on a streak. At that pace, they will win 39.7 of the last 48, putting them at 119 - 43.

Now, obviously this is a steep hill to climb and they would need to maintain their current pace. But one thing is clear - this is the Red Sox' year, and there is no better team in baseball.

I’m still rolling with my rebuilding Rangers. We’re a tough young team even if we haven’t built up the consistency yet for any postseason this year. If we can find two starters in the offseason, we might have something as soon as next year. Until then, we’ll just have to knock off those in front of us.

I am a die-hard Cubs fan when I bother to watch baseball. I would love to see them take it all!

Huge Sox fan, but I don't think they do that. They have a lot of games left with the Yanks, Indians, Philly, and the Astros. I think they win between 105 and 110.

The Sox are really amazing this year though. The last two games, they looked dead before the ninth against the Yanks and before the eighth against the Jays. Crazy comebacks.

Something else that's interesting is that the Sox will probably win 100 and the Orioles will probably lose 100. In fact, the Orioles could flirt with the record of finishing most games back in the modern era. Probably won't do it, but they'll finish around 60 games back by the end of the season.

They just won it two years ago. You know that, right?

A Cubs-Sox World Series would be awesome though!

Cubs vs Sox? That would be like matter colliding with anti-matter in Star Trek. The whole universe might implode.
