Default Bourgeois 00 owners?

Anyone have one of these little beauties? I have one coming and wondering what to expect.

I've played quite a few of Dana's guitars, but never had one here to evaluate properly.

It's German/EIR - Hide glue - curly Koa binding everywhere. Pretty excited about getting my paws on it!

I had one with the same woods and thought it was a great guitar. Nice string spacing, playability and rich tone. I only sold it because I had 3 Bourgeois at the time and wanted to diversify. Good luck and I look forward to your review.

I played a Sitka/Bubinga OMC at Elderly a few years back that I should have taken home.

Cool thing this is one of the 1 3/4 - 2 5/16 models (which is more comfy for my right hand!

I saw an identical one listed at Artisan (sold) that was only a year older - and their description was part of what put me over the edge on this one!

What a beauty!!
I owned a Bourgeois 00 (bought new) in Adirondack/Guatemalan for about 6 years and loved it. Really nice recording tone and super comfy to play. When my Vines came in, this one had to go........but reluctantly!
Dana knows his woods, and I've attended a voicing demo he gave several years ago and met him there.......just an all around great company and expert artist!
Still holding on to my JOM, so I'm still in the family!
Best of luck with the new 00!
Fred

I see you have a Tom Doerr as well - I may well be doing a build with Tom starting soon too. It will be Mahogany

Bourgeois 00 Country Boy here... Adirondack top and mahogany sides.

I’ve also played a couple of its close cousins. The sound is clear and balanced. I find the neck a little narrow, but that’s how this model was made. This guitar was built in 2011; I am the second owner, having purchased it in 2014. It has really blossomed in the last few years - I’d say that it’s only beginning to reach its potential. And, I find that to really evaluate this guitar, I have always needed to hear someone else play it.

I’ll add that different strings have not made too much of a difference. Dana voices them for D’Addarion EJ16s, but I enjoy playing it with SCGC lights or mediums.

You’ll enjoy your 00 for many years. Enjoy!

Best,

Rick

Whoa!! GREAT! Tom is just wonderful in every way. We are still in touch nearly 5 years after the build! His process of pacing your involvement and decisions on the details is superb. The interpersonal interactions will be just wonderful........oh, and about the guitar he'll build.......sublime!

Must be one of the 1 23/32 - 2.2 variety. I was very happy when I found out this one was the wider one (actually the only question I asked the seller!)

Glad to hear that about the EJ16's - what I use the most.

Haha - and he's only about 25 miles from me!

Might be a tendency to wear out my welcome

A friend of mine has a very nice custom ordered one. FME, expect it to be sort of quiet.

As I've always said - if it's not loud enough, stick a mic in front of it - it's all about the tone

In that case I found the tone a bit dark and recessed. But that is in comparison to my Martin and Yamamotos which easily hold their own against any other guitar I've compared them too. Of course every guitar is different so as they say, YMMV.
