the guitar is finished and we got to take pictures of the guitars tonight, unfortunately my friend did not send me a sneak peak of #6. so i am posting the initial pictures that i took with my phone right after the guitar was strung.
also as a side note, i had been working on and planning a guitar for months and months almost since i was building #3 and #4..i wanted to do a non cutaway guitar that had more of a classic feel, but yet quite modern at the same time..anyways i decided to go with Malaysian Blackwood with a Carpathian Spruce top, i worked on it throughout the other builds and finally got the chance to finish it alongside #6 & #7...and being that JR wanted #9...the result was Razo #8. here are some quick pictures, enjoy! and this is me holding the guitar! I was wondering what happened to #8. There are threads for 6,7, and 9 but no 8. Now we see. I like it. I love the mix between your style and classic. It looks like a more traditional guitar yet still has the razo touch. Very nice work on both guitars.

Beautiful!!! #8 is a real stunner! I love the little accent work at the bottom. Is this the one you built as your personal guitar or is it the road trip guitar? JR |

Thanks everyone for the kind words! i just got the pictures in and i thought id share them with y'all! this guitar is serving as sort of my "demo" guitar.
Last friday a friend of mine informed me that Shawn McDonald was going to be in town for a concert. Well i contacted shawn and asked if he would be willing to take a look at my guitars, his manager replied that he would love to see what i was working on and to show early while they were unloading. I showed up and waited while shawn and his electric guitar player got set up. then they came over to look at the guitar and they were surprised how good it looked and sounded. they said they sometimes get request like this, and more often than not the guitar are not that great. they joked about how they were already preparing themselves to not hurt my feelings if the guitar was not up to par..fortunately for me they liked it, and shawn asked if i could install a pick up in it, that he would love to play a song with it. so i bought a pick up and installed it and here is a youtube clip of him playing Razo #6 at his concert. http://youtu.be/3nDCyYCfh_0 |

Great story. Great clip. Great guitar. Have you gotten your invite to healdsburg yet? I'm certain it won't be long before you will be there. You've certainly got the talent. Keep up the great work.

I got to meet Jonathan today at the Harp Guitar Gathering and play this very guitar. I was impressed both by the builder and the instrument.
Jonathan is personable, gracious and humble--traits usually found in someone with more winters under their belt. The work is crisp and clean, the attention to detail evident everywhere. His guitar is well-balanced, with a sweet yet modern voice. I could see it appealing to a wide audience, and am amazed that this is only #6. Well done, Jonathan, and it was a delight meeting you today! Steve |

Steve- it was nice to finally put a face to the name, it was a pleasure sitting and talking with you about luthiery and all other things, and i appreciate the compliments and the advice, and hope to make it out to your shop sometime soon.
I also had the chance to meet several other luthiers at the Harp festival. I got a chance to meet Kathy Wingert and Mike Dooling. I spent the better part of thursday night with Mike Dooling and his wife Nancy, lovely couple. we hung around the hotel talking about all things to do with guitar building, i also had the privilege of having mike take my guitar for a spin, great guitar player! I was also fortunate to be there when Hirokatsu "Hiro" Takai arrived at the hotel. Stunning guitar player as well, he also took my guitar for a couple spins, and did things i didn't know could be done on a guitar, i finally remembered i had my iPad in my truck so i raced to grab it quickly and captured a little bit of hiro playing my guitar. here is the clip http://youtu.be/NCqYg3-9QuI Jonathan |
