I'm glad something took the edge off your day. This has turned out to be a stunning looking guitar. I did not expect the figure that came out in that top from the build thread. I love how all the colours tone together to produce a very balanced, understated look that then lets you explore all those little details. I hope you have as much fun playing as I've had watching. Thanks for sharing.

Hot Sand!!!
The entire axe is a BEAUTY. I especially like the hot sand fades. Very cool rosette and volute too.
I did not realize Padouk was so light. How SWEET the entire instrument is!!! Hope this really brightens your day! Paul

That's an extraordinary guitar, Tom. And it's coming to live with an extraordinary guy. Congratulations on this newest member to your family!
Now I need to get up and walk around for a bit, cuz all those sideways build photos gave me a bit of vertigo...

When it arrives, look real hard and try and find a flaw in Rory's work.
I'll check back 24 hrs later: You'll still be looking! Cheers, Steve |

Congratulations Tom!
I have long admired Rory’s work and design sensibilities. I look forward to hearing your impressions playing it! Mark

Count me in as a fan of this guitar. I love how the rosette colors oppositely fade. First class!

Thank you very much Mark, when he said he had some curly redwood we could use for the top, I immediately thought of you and the curly redwood you have used and said yes immediately!

Thank you and I agree, the hot sand fades are really nice, rosette, end graft, arm bevels, front and back of the headstock...maybe I will find more when I get it.

It has taken me this long to get a chance to play the guitar due to viral travel restrictions affecting NY to Tx travel. I then only had 3 days, but rest assured this guitar is a world class guitar.
The workmanship is amazing and the hot sand fades are quite stunning in person. The woods are amazing in person as well. The guitar is very light and you can tell that there is nothing on this guitar that is not well thought out. It plays very easily and is very sensitive to the lightest of touches. This is my first Walnut guitar and I was expecting that dry fundamental woody sound people describe. I am not getting that. This guitar has absolutely amazing sustain and fantastic overtones (probably the redwood top), but I would say the overtones decay slightly faster than my rosewood guitars. There is a very clear, articulate string separation with a clarity that rivals anything I have ever played. In summary, I am not good at describing sound, but that is the best I could do. The guitar was worth the wait and although we had major trouble with shipping and getting it released to me once in the US, it arrived in perfect shape and I am very very happy with the instrument. I would put it up against anything in a blind test and expect it to hold its own against them all. If that sounds like high praise then I have accomplished my goal. Tom
