Tight Waverly tuner -
I normally don't play around with my tuners other than to tune the strings but I have a Waverly that is becoming very tight to tune, to the point of annoying.
Rather than drag the guitar down to my shop and leave it for a few days, is there a best way to work in it without my probable messing things up? It's the number one tuner on the E string on my old H and D. Hopefully if one could offer a few basic suggestions on how best to approach and address this - would appreciate |

Have you tried removing the tuner and treating it with a spray lithium grease?

Contact Steward Macdonald, who manufactures them, and have them replace it. They seem to do that without much fuss.

Waverlys do sometimes get tight.
I’ve had this happen a couple of times with Waverlys. They always have a bit more resistance than other tuners but some just get stiff.
On both occasions I’ve contacted Stewmac and they’ve sent out a replacement tuner that’s got to me in the U.K. in less than a week. What’s most impressive is that one of the stiff tuners was on a used Bourgeois instrument. Exceptional customer service. Just email Stewmac with a photo of the tuner. |
