Henry Boynton
"Friendly" Henry Boynton has been playing electric mandolin since 1952, performing in the '60s and '70s with many prominent country stars. Now older and wiser, Henry performs mostly in Idaho with an Americana and rockabilly group called the Knights. He also teaches music privately in the Ada and Canyon County areas. His main axes are a 1982 John Knutson doubleneck, a Rigel E-110, and a Godin A8. He's also the proud owner of a 2009 Scott Hembry doubleneck and a 1959 Carvin doubleneck.
He also has a Stable of G&L's USA made

There would be times when we all were hitting on all 8 and it would be magic....and there would be nights that he would be having a moment and he would hit that mandolin hard and about knock the people off their chairs in the front row...You could see them winching with each hit of the strings..lol
But if there was some lady in the crowd he wanted to impress....Well it would be a magic night
He would take one of his USA made G&L strats and that double-neck... and an older Peavey Bandit amp.. That was his giging rig...

Henry told me once...Never loan anything to Johnny Paycheck...

Henry was a Studio player in Nashville for a while.... His Friend John and my bandmate played drums on Runaway....

We played in places that had to move the pinball machine so we could fit in the corner of the bar Sam's Place.... Straw bales lined the band area so the drunks wouldn't fall into us... Henry was good with his headstock..shoving people back lol...

We played several times at Eagle Fun Days.....(Like a fair)...The Ranch Club...Lions.... Fairs.....Private Parties...

One year we gigged 54 times....

I told him in July that I'm playing today because of him... that he made all my dreams come true...That he gave me something that I will have forever...Music

Henry has a failing kidney and Blood Cancer...and 87 years old...I'm praying that we can play together again..
