The tone of this thing really is lovely. I've never heard of an 'Eastman ET-10SS ProtoType'... What is that?

The Proto Types were designated as an ET which I believe meant the Traditional series rather than being an AC series. They were used as an introduction to the 2012 Namm shows. They had only made so many of them in different finishes (only two in the Cherry Crush) and they came with volute's and a wider nut than when they went into production. There are a few of the early production models that do have the volute until they ran out of those necks but all the proto types start with the ET10-SS.

Hi Phillip,

I am seriously considering an E10-00ss/v.... I love the aesthetic, and the YT videos display exquisite tone. You've had your varnish SS for over a year now... a couple of questions for you:

1. In the photos you posted, it looks like the varnish is worn away where your forearm sits. Is that correct, or did it come like that?
2. Any other issues with the varnish finish so far?
3. Does the varnish have a smell? For your nose, pleasant or not?

It looks like a lot of love went into making that guitar. Looks vintage without being dilapidated.

The guitar is no longer in my possession. I really liked it, but I wound up with 4 acoustics, and I've been on a mission to get down to 2, perhaps even 1. The worn areas on the v-series are all built that way. Each one slightly different from each other, of course. It all looks very natural. No other issues with the varnish. It was/is a lovely instrument.

Thanks for your reply Phillip, all good to know.

I'm also on a quest to downsize. I'm selling a Blackbird Lucky 13 and a Gibson Jackson Browne... I'll keep my Rainsong WS1000 and I'm getting an 00 sized wood guitar... I think the Eastman will be perfect.
