Default Martin HD28v Fingerpicking

Hello! I'm new to the forum and I need some advice. I love the Martin Hd28v's tone but I play finger style 80% of the time, and the V neck is rather uncomfortable for me. I was wondering if there's a better suited option for mostly fingerpicking that still maintains a full, bassy tone. I'm also considering an OM28, J40 or M36 as well.

I also play fingerstyle predominately and love my HD-28V Adi top custom. But it does have a 1.75" nut and 2.25" saddle spacing? (see Jon @ MFG) Also recently picked up an OM-28 standard with the MLO neck that is really comfortable but pales by comparison to the bigger dread. It's all about what you're after?

You might find the OM 28 ideal for finger picking.

There is nothing that maintains the level of fully, bassy tone that an HD-28V delivers... but why don't you look into the D-35? For several decades it has been known as the finger-pickers dreadnought. It's still pretty thick sounding.

Or for me the closet thing to a HD-28V is the next step...a D-28 Marquis? Just my two cents?

D-18 has the same bracing and a 1.75" nut and low profile neck. Mahogany, which might be really nice for your finger style play.

What he said. A D18 would be my choice.

The HD35 is a wonderful fingerstyle guitar, with that wonderfully huge bass response.

Finger picking .. it depends on your application - if you're playing solo, treating your guitar like an orchestra, I'd want real bass under the top parts .. that something like an HD28v, HD35 or D42 offers - I mean why miss out? But if you want to cut through an acoustic mix, a smaller guitar that puts its energy more into mids may deliver better.
I don't think there's one guitar for all jobs. What I play for me is not what I take to jam.
