Default Got it!

I love this guitar!

It is a real cannon, it will knock you down if you stand in front of it. And yet the tone is very sweet. As has been said many times before, redwood is cedar on steroids. I will add, Giant Sequoia is redwood on steroids. It is both crisp and mellow.

With the 1 7/8" nut I requested, it plays like a dream. It is very light and the entire guitar vibrates, like holding a newborn baby in your arms.

I have never been a fan of a satin finish, but, this liberon oil finish, while not a hard shiny finish, is really cool. Rather than obscure the beauty of the wood like a satin finish, it really brings it out and just feels great.

And, I love the aesthetics of this thing. While researching classical guitars before I found Dave, every classical guitar looked the same. I could not tell the difference between a $10k and a $250 guitar. But this one stands out. People will be asking me about this guitar. Already the few friends I have shown this to have raved about how beautiful it is. Heck, my wife has bragged about how beautiful it is.

Finally, and who know how long this will last, I simply cannot believe that a guitar as fine as this cost a small fraction of what I would have expected to pay. This guitar is the value of the century in my book.

Steve

Congratulations, Steve! I'm glad the sound is up to your expectations - it appears he is consistent on delivering in that respect. I think the guitar is very beautiful . . . except . . . well, my brain just won't wrap around that split sound hole. I think it would eventually - I was the same way about fan-frets at first, but now I hardly notice them.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but, I was wondering how this thing could be so loud and it occurred to me perhaps the size of the sound hole is a contributor?

That could well be. May be other factors too - for instance, that looks like an innovative way to tie off the strings on the bridge - I'd be interested to know how that works.

Dave uses Rossette Diamond Bridge Beads: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muFht-LLJTo

Makes things very easy.

Steve, I totally dig the look of your new guitar!! It’s easy to try new aesthetic approaches, but rare for the results to actually be aesthetic. May you enjoy playing outside the box with your new outside-the-box box for many years to come!!

So cool and funky. Love the design. Very happy for your new acquisition. Thanks for the photos. For me, guitar photos are a kind of vitamin. Or maybe an addictive drug? Not sure which.

Not sure if you use this superlative in the US, but down here we'd say that's an absolute ripper!

If it sounds just a quarter as good as it looks then you are a very lucky guy.

No pressure Steve but are you going to share a recording with us?

Granted, I haven't lived in the States for many years, but if I ever hear someone talk about "an absolute ripper", I'll hold my nose and check my underpants for skid marks. All very "down under", in any case.

Never even thought of that Deft. We're so innocent down here!
Yeah some of our Aussie phrases don't travel well. I once left a couple of US friends speechless with another one that I belatedly realised was open to different interpretations!

Sorry Steve....the guitar looks absolutely amazing!

Ripper indeed. Steve’s post got me so revved up that I ordered one just like it from Dave!

Well done! Makes me wonder what woods and other features you will select.
Hmmmm, maybe another build thread soon?

Way to go, man!

Dave's design is so compelling, I can see how it's pushed you over the edge.

Please post pics as the story unfolds!

Finally got around to recording this guitar. As usual, please forgive the poor playing.

Thanks Steve! It's a rich and powerful sound; must be incredible when you are actually playing it rather than just listening. Particularly like clip 3(1) where you are playing the classical pieces.
