Default Leo Kottke and Mike Gordon NPR Tiny Desk Concert

I finally got to see Leo in concert last fall. It was worth the wait!

Hi Fred, glad you liked it! Much of the time I have absolutely no idea what Leo is doing, but I like it

That's a great video Bob. Lots of African rhythm there. A couple of years ago at virtual Swannanoah, I lucked into taking a lesson with Corey Seznec (he has several courses on Guitarvideos.com) and it was all about African rhythm and polyrhythm. For those of us who were so smug when we finally learned to 'swing' our musical rhythm in a believable fashion, polyrhythms just knock you back down to the ground.

"I have no idea of what Leo is doing, but I like it," really sums up polyrhythms well.

I saw Leo at The Freight & Salvage in Berkeley last July and he was terrific. He only played a 6-string.

What's with the piece of paper blocking part of the sound hole?

"I would like to take this opportunity to show off my fight bell." Mike Gordon

I admit, over the span of all this time, I never gave these two a listen. I had heard of them being together, I just never got around to them. I'm glad I tuned in today.

It was very pleasant to see the real Leo and Cactus laying down some jams. It was just as exciting to see The Wolfmans Brother.

Oh, and did I forget to mention, forget to mention that nice Languedoc bass?

Leo only played six string when I saw him last fall. That was fine with me, I prefer it.

That paper must be some kind of anti-feedback device?

Polyrythyms! Thanks Rick, now I have a name for something I can't do

I honestly think you have to either be African or to have immersed yourself in the West African culture to really absorb it. It’s mesmerizing, but when you try to duplicate it - fuggedabout it!
