Default Looks Beautiful ... but

This is a new Breedlove Masterclass Spruce/Ziricote.
Over US$4000
Looks beautiful ... but I'm unsure about that non-symmetrical bridge.
My eyes are drawn to it.
Anyone else feel it just doesn't fit visually with the rest of this guitar?

I agree. Though the bridge is unique, it does not really fit the guitar. Looks a bit like the guitar is frowning or smirking.

The back on that guitar is stunning, however......

I’m OK with the bridge much more than the sap wood.

It is okay with me. It's distinctive. Better than a mustache bridge.

I'm kind of drawn to the uniqueness.

Default Breed love

I have never liked assymetry in guitars. I don't much care for their headstock either (or a lot of them in expensive modern instruments), but their bridge is near the bottom of the heap as far as my opinion on looks are concerned. They also have regular ones which look fine, but these look like a cartoon of an unconscious drunk's mustache.

That's one of the reasons I've always liked Breedlove. As Steve Jobs once said "Think Different".

I like to say that tone and playability come first, and aesthetics second, but, in this case, I've got to admit that that bridge biases me against even checking out the tone and playability.

Guess I'm more shallow than I had hoped.

I have never liked this bridge design on Breedlove’s. I’m not against non-traditional designs, just not this one.

Agreed.....I wouldn't even pick that one up off the wall. It's just a non starter. If/when you fall out of love with it's "uniqueness", good luck selling it. You'd probably be lucky to get $1600-$1850 for it, in mint condition. Breedlove has always been an odd duck to me.

l like it. Consider you've asked one of the most conservative group of folks (about guitars) you can encounter. Don't disregard the guitar unless you can't live with it. I've a parcel of pretty straightforward old school styled acoustics, but if that guitar really sings, I'd be happy to have it.

I actually like it. I was disappointed when they did their me too Martin copies. I like for a maker to bring something different into the market

It's a lovely guitar.

Yet to play a Breedlove that had the sound I prefer but there's no question is a nice guitar. I'm not a sapwood fan either but that's so small it's not taking away from the look.
