Hey gents, the OP was looking for suggestion on vocalizers, not a survey on vocalizers vs true human harmony. I do not believe anyone would dispute that real voices, if available, are a better option .

I really like the TC Helicon Harmony Singer, been gigging with it for years. I love its simplicity, relatively small footprint and sturdiness.

The key is to use it to enhance certain passages (not on all the time) at a volume where it’s barely perceptible by the audience. I usually set it to one above (sometimes two levels above) but always one voice (harmony) never multiple.

It also has a very useful tool: a tone button (compression, eq, de-esser) independent of the harmony that I find indispensable in group situations or boomy solo situations; It immediately takes away any boominess in your vocals, tightens it up and makes it cut through the mix.

I just bought my second one after using the first one for about 7 years.

The Harmony Singer II seems to be more like $200, but the testimonial is helpful.

If you can get one of their stompboxes for $200 or a Voicelive 3 with apparently all of their effects for about $800, the individual devices do not look like a great deal. It's a tough call.

I also use the TC Helicon GXT which was mentioned here already. I think it works pretty well although I have not used anything else to compare. It's really simple to use and set up a few presets but pretty basic compared to higher end units. That is fine with me, I like keeping things as easy as possible. I have separate effects for my guitar so I don't need something like the Play Acoustic. I'm very surprised they quit making this unit and haven't come out with a direct successor. It definitely gets the job done.

You’re correct.
This thread went completely haywire.

No one has mentioned QSC speakers or advocated buying a J45 just yet, so we've been rather well behaved

discovered what i knew. the consensus seems to be live vocals are the optimum and harmonizer gadgets are third best.

If you play a J45 through a system with QSC speakers then a vocal harmonizer is completely unneeded. It will sound like a heavenly band full of angels with harmonies magically appearing throughout the music.

Ok are we covered now?

Mick nails it as usual. Well done!

Another happy Harmony-G XT user.

Sad that they've been discontinued. I have two, one on my main pedalboard and the other on my fly rig board.

If you can find one, it's worth trying out.
