Default Wow one of my dogs really hates the harmonica!

Apparently hurts his ears. All I have to do is hit one note and he starts winning and howling. I knew this before when I started out with a Key of G crossover, but it wasn't this bad. Just got a C harp and blew one note and he went ballistic.

I love my dog(s) so I guess I'll be practicing in a separate room or even the bathroom. I actually have plans to convert my taxidermy studio into a music room now that's I'm retired.

Anybody else run into this?

My wife goes to bed far earlier than me and I used to delight in a late night noodle on my smaller guitars. Our previous cat "Rupert" would appear from wherever he was and come and sit beside me as I played.
Sadly a vet intent os selling me expensive drugs killed him off last summer and in November we took on "Bella" (we call her Dobby the House elf) a four year old Oriental short hair.

She HATES my guitars and the beautiful (gentle fingerstyle) sounds they make. It's quite upsetting.

Well that's a shame. It amazes me how personalities can be so different in animals just like people. My two rescue dogs are brothers but you wouldn't know it by their diverse personalities.

Every dog I've ever known sang along to Neil Young on my Marine Band G harmonica.

My cat Bella loves to listen to me rehearse for my acoustic shows, but she really doesn't like louder electric guitar stuff.

Try a high-F harp. That ought to intensify the response!

My dog growing up (a little cocka-poo) would sit at my feet and howl whenever I practiced the clarinet

You should get a banjo, some of your fingerstyle skills might transfer. Your wife will soon learn to appreciate your guitar.

yep, same here. It interests me that I get all kinds of compliments on my harp playing and it's the one instrument I play that I don't practice-because of my dog! Maybe I should stop practicing guitar, mandolin and bass as well and see how that goes.

Amen to that!

Is that a Silly Moustache original? If so do you mind if I share it?

What he said! Definitely get a banjo! And not just you, everyone should get one! It's super easy and super fun! The world would be a much less grumpy place if everybody played one!
