+1 - a lesson I learned the hard way, back in the '70s when I had my D-45...

Yep, I do...mostly. Microfiber cloth...dry, no water. If there's a greasy stain on the top from a sweaty arm, I'll spritz it lightly with Martin cleaner, but very sparingly.

I never wipe them down. Never had a reason to.

Yes and no. I try to give a quick swipe at least to the strings and arm rest, but if no cloth within reach, I skip. I think it helps to prolong string life, and keeps the grime from building up. Just my habits...

My response is "sometimes" Most of my guitars have a cotton duster in the case, and should I notice a smudge or other mark when I put it away, I might wipe it off.
I have very dry hands so don't "grunge up" my guitars, and alway give them a good clean with a slightly damp rag and then a polish when I change strings. I may be a tad neurotic in some aspects of my guitars, but not in this.

I'll do a wipe down occasionally if I see any annoying smudges or if it's been hot and there could be perspiration on the guitar. Other than that its a part of my string change ritual and I wait until that point.

Do you wipe your guitar down after you play?
Last February was my chance to go to Big CITY and check out some guitars. I had just eaten some fries and my fingers were greasy.
When I asked to go wash my hands the clerk was so appreciative ! This was before Covid. I assume dirty hands on guitars was what drove Taylor to Elixer strings 20 years ago. |

Yeah, I always wipe off the neck. I'll check the lower bout for the beginning of that haze and give that a wipe if needed.
