Last few guitars looks great Bruce. I would love to play both the classical and the maple. Alas, I am on the wrong side of the continent.

I just had my Sexauer out tonight and my daughter who generally pays no attention to my chicken scratching on the guitar, just comes out and says, "that guitar sounds different than all your others. The notes ring and blend so well together." For her to notice and say anything, tells me what I already knew, but was still good to hear that someone else can appreciate the sound of my Sexauer.

It has to be one of the best he has made, no bias there at all! I am inspired each and every time I pick it up.

If your daughter is as difficult to impress as my daughter, Tom, that is a deep compliment! Thank you.

My excellent impressions of the new guitar are from the first hour of play and I have not picked it up yet today. So far this morning I have walked the dog and all that that implies, and then sanded back the coat in the following picture. It is much harder to spray a guitar with the neck on, and I am killing time at the keyboard while I steel myself for the task.

This varnish is beautiful, to me.

I delivered the Schoenberg today and it was received as well as I expected. I really do think it is at the top of the pile of guitars (approaching 70) I’ve done for Eric. Probably that is a matter of taste, but this one is magic. Built on the shoulders of giants.

That is sweet!

Not so long ago a customer in NZ realized the shipping and duty on one of my guitars was more than the price of round trip airfare and put me up for a week as well. Luthier perks!

I just put on the 7th of what I currently project to be 9 coats of Varnish. Probably only 8 on the top. It is relatively challenging for me to spray the guitar perfectly when the neck is attached and I am struggling with curtaining on the sides. It takes me 2 coats to get back to level when that happens, as it did on the coat before this one.

A month or so ago I mentioned starting a couple of single 0 guitars. I have finally gotten to them in earnest and the tops are braced. I have not built 2 guitars at once for a while, and it is usually a game I play for comparisons sake. This time one will be higher spec than the other (Swiss "moon" spruce over Pernambuco as opposed to Adi over Honduran Mahogany) in both materials and trim. Both will benefit from the same construction technique, and it will be interesting to observe their similarities and differences. I do expect to bring one or both the B.I.G. at the end of March.

Here's the Swiss top:

The morning paper today had warning for 50' surf on the local coast! They called for a 20 several foot swell and 21 second interval, both of which are impressive and unusal numbers. So Linda and I went out to have a look in the driving rain. A beautiful day if you like storms, which we do as long as we're prepared. 8 to 10 foot surf, though.
