Default A thousand Dollars on the spot?

I hang several guitars in my wife's bistro. Some are for sale.
Most are mine and some are not. I hang them there for a local builder.

Yesterday a Dane and a Filipino came in. They were really good players. The Dane told me he'd give me
a thousand dollars on the spot for my big archtop. I told him no thanks.

He'd been into play it once when I wasn't there and has lusted after it since.

I paid $225 for it originally. I added a Kent Armstrong floating mini-humbucker, pickguards, wiring,
replaced old tail piece w/a solid ebony tailpiece, inter alia. After all was totaled, I'm still <$500 on this guitar.

Here it is hanging on the bistro wall, (actually it's hanging on a huge tin painting of a French train).

One of the things that makes this guitar strange and unique (to my knowledge), is its depth.
It is deeper than any of my dreadnoughts. It is the deepest archtop I've seen. I'm guessing 4 1/2 to 5" at the bulge.

It is deeper than any jumbo I've played. Solid hog back & sides. Carved solid Spruce top. No lams. You'll notice the F-holes are short & fat too, instead of the normal narrow and slender.

Here they are. These guys were good. They played unplugged & plugged in.

Both plugged into my Roland AC60 amp. The Kent Armstrong pick-up sounded warm, surfy, jazzy, perfect.
I had a K&K Western Mini in the Guild D60. It also sounded fine.

That is a truly happy scene. Wish I could swing by for a coffee and a few tunes.

Looks like a great time. I'll bet there are a few days like this.

Yeah, not a bad place to stay. Won't get rich. But it's a decent life.
The archtop is truly unique though.
