Default Removing soundhole braces?

I have a SC T160. It has three 1/4" braces around the soundhole. Two of these prevent me from sliding my M1A fully forward (neckside). Are they so critical to structure and/or sound that it would be unwise to remove them?

Thanks in advance for your help.

The area around the sound hole is the weakest part of the guitar, and it's subjected to the full tension of the strings. The sound hole reinforcement is one area I wouldn't mess with.

I've seen old guitars with no sound hole reinforcement. They deform over time.
