Default Old takamine saddle removal?

Hello all!

I have a 1982? (not positive of the year) Takamine F340 that my daddy bought new way back when. I am simply wondering is the saddle glued in on these guitars or is it just really hard to get out. It needs a new saddle and I have one that can replace it but I cant get it out. Does anybody know if these saddles are glued in or not?

Thanks

Dan

No, should be a drop in. Someone else may have glued it after the fact so don't use excessive force.

What would be the procedure for getting this saddle out if it has been glued in? Is it pretty complicated? Use heat or not? Any suggestions?

Thanks

That would depend on the glue. If you can't easily remove it, take it to a repair shop and let them deal with it.

if you try to force it several things COULD go wrong.

the bridge could break

the bridge could pull off the top

the whole top could be damaged.

but only if some muppet glued the saddle in.

for me, if it wasn't coming out with locking pliers and a firm pull, I'd be reaching for a dremel and my slot cutting jigs and remove it like that.
