Talking How near do you live to a Guitar Factory?

I was wondering how many of us live near a local guitar factory?

I live about 6.4km from the Maton Factory here in Melbourne, Australia.

p.s. Though truth be said I was abit hesitant with all the vitriol against Maton on this forum. Though I hope it brings some images to some... .

The Breedlove U.S.A. factory is in Bend, Oregon; approximately an hour and a half drive from here... although I believe there are very, VERY GOOD builders in both Eugene, OR. and Portland, OR. as well - hardly factories, but they are building guitars!

I am unaware of any excess "vitriol" (great word, by the by) being levied against Maton guitars on this Forum; truth be told, Maton's aren't all that well known in America, save for Tommy Emmanuel playing one.

When I lived in Fort Bragg, CA., James Goodall had his shop there... I spent many happy hours, sampling his amazing guitars!

My Mum lives in Inala aged care on Middleborough Road. You can see the Maton factory through her window. (Directly opposite Bunnings and Masters!)

I live in the same town as Gibson Memphis and a small shop, St. Blues.
BTW, Maton makes fine instruments as far as I am concerned. I played a couple for a little while about 2 months ago in Nashville. Good guitars. (and of course Gibson Nashville is there as well, along with a few others).

I live near Fender HQ and I'm close friends with someone in the Gretsch family, but nothing gets manufactured out here.

Gibson in Bozeman is three hours down the road . John Walker's shop is half an hour the other way. Both are close by Montana standards.

Yeah there's been a few threads like that though they probably don't represent majority view. And as usual online forums are a good reminder to wear a thick skin & a sense of humour at all times.

I see in your sig you have the SRS-808, I have tried this & several of the SRS dreads as well & IMO it's the biggest single step taken by the brand in a short time in terms of materials, improvement in build & the price reduction. To the point they're probably the best value here, and with our falling dollar they may be able to significantly drop their price to overseas markets as well.

Sorry no guitar factories I know of in Canberra, Melbourne seems to be the epicentre in this country.

Default Martin Factory

I live about an hour and a half south of the Martin Factory in Nazareth. I've driven past but never stopped! New Years resolution?
