Thank you all for the suggestions. I did get to experiment the other day with an X/Y configuration with the mics. This coming week, I'll try to get a recording going of the two of us in the living room again.

It's a pain, of course, to move the recording studio. I'm about ready to "punt" and try moving either to a church or the local high school band rehearsal room to see what would happen, if anything.

Fran, I am going to try to get the mics re-configured and try to balance with instrument arrangement, as per your suggestion.

Lately, I've been so flabbergasted by the sound that THIS GUY is getting, that nothing I'm doing even sounds close!
