Yamaha AC5R or Yamaha A5R
So I finally decided on buying a Yamaha A5 but I'm having a hard time deciding between the Concert size (AC5R) and the Dreadnaught (A5R). I'm largely a flatpicking blues + bluegrass player and singer-songwriter. Anyone have any suggestions?

Hmm I can't comment on what suits your playing style.
I can suggest this: if you are a smaller person who may find that >16" lower bout on a dread too uncomfortable, go for the AC5R. The concert size will give you more presence on the higher ranges, while the dread gives you more bass and low mids. I like the concert size because I play fingerstyle.

Thks for the advice CLS! I'm more of a flatpicker than a finger stylist and I'm not a little guy, but I still like the idea of a smaller body. Plus the idea of crisper highs appeal to my style so I'm leaning towards the AC5R. Thks again

I can’t make the decision for you either but I can tell you I’ve had my AC5R for a couple of months and I gig with it as much as my J45 and Martin GPCPA1. An amazing instrument for about half the price.
