Default Buying guitars in Argentina and bringing back into the USA. Customs and tax?

Greetings, I may be buying a guitar or two in Argentina and bringing them back into the USA. Does anyone know what I'd expect to encounter in regards to going thru customs and the tax/fee issues I'd encounter (both in Argentina and in the USA)?

Thanks for any insight!

David

I've seen more than a few threads here regarding CITES and rosewood guitars. There seems to be some issue about bringing guitars with rosewood across international borders. I didn't really go any further into the threads as it generally doesn't apply to an old guy sitting in New Jersey, lol

CITES issues for an individual only apply to Brazilian Rosewood. I’m on my way to Austin from from my home in the UK again next week and I’ll be taking either a Cocobolo Bown or an EIR Kinscherff, just as I have four times since the new CITES regs came into force.

I think OP just wanted to know about import taxes and duties.

If you decide to declare that you are bringing in a guitar, Youd have to pay your import fees. You may get lucky and just be allowed to enter the states without having to pay.

CITES shouldnt be an issue since it is your personal instrument.
