Default Anyone try Mediums on a Legacy?

I am thinking of trying mediums on my CA Legacy. I just put some on My Journey OF660 after consulting with the factory and like the volume, and the feel, and have not noticed any change in sustain or tone or playability issues. The trebles sounded a little weak and the mediums seem to be an improvement.
I checked with the factory at CA first and they said it was fine for the Legacy, even though the Legacy does not have a truss rod. I was told the nut should be good for mediums as well. Anyone try? I am using my Journey for finger picking and my Legacy for strumming.

I run Bluegrass gauge or Med. Bottoms/light Top on my Legacy now days and I like how they perform on mine. I did try straight mediums and they sounded great but play-ability suffered a little too much for my fingers to handle. This was a compromise that worked well for me and this guitar.

Thanks, i'll give that a try. I have tried medium / lights before, but they were the opposite of these. Sounds like what I am looking for. What brand?

You’re right. I’m running lights now...but I miss the days when I could “man up.”

FWIW, I've been using Bluegrass gauge (light tops, medium bottoms) PB strings on my Rainsong "Smokey" SMH (which is my go-to instrument for outdoor gigs, parties that might get noisy or rowdy, etc.), and will probably stick with them. I am, however, using DR "Rares" which are advertised as being a little lower tension than most. The action seems good with them.

Well I took a set of mediums 13,17,26,35,45,56 and a set of lights 12,16,24,32,42,53. and made my own set 13.17,26,32,42,53. which makes a light/med set, Nice. I like the heavier trebles.
and now I also have a set 12,16,24,35,45,56- which is a med/light set.

Weird how that could have happened.

I have mediums on my GX, no problems. I love them, it's my main flatpicking guitar now.

I know, amazing isn't it. I guess I am the only one that likes just the trebles in medium with the rest lights.
