I have both a Waterloo WL-12Mh and a Larrivee 12-fret LS-03, an older special model, that I like equally. They were both bought used, one slightly above your budget and the other less. There are several guitars out there in your price range, be patient and keep looking.
BTW, I have owned several Martin 15-series and never liked any of them any more than the two listed above.
