Volume of 1 seemed significantly more. Not sure if that was mic placement or what, but I tried not to take volume into account. 1 and 2 were close for me. Three a distant bronze.

#1 Sounds nice recorded, but a bit jangly and blended together for my tastes. Would have preferred it to be a bit more scooped in the midrange. Nicest bass on the single note runs for me. Definitely came across as the loudest in the recording.
#3 had nicer separation between bass and treble but not enough bass for my tastes, at least in the recording. #2 Sounded a bit on the constrained side. Drier. Nice playing! I would have preferred more variety in the piece to discern more about the guitars, but no complaints. I tend to like rosewood dreads in person and mahogany dreads on recordings. Cool test. My order of preference: 3, 2, 1.
I found 1 a little raw, 2 straight-on mellow, and 3 to be just right. And I'd agree with lots of people here that 2 sound like a hog. Jim |

I have a hard time choosing. I think, if I was trying to sing, I would pick No. 2. For listening, I like them all (the playing has something to do with that, no doubt) but would probably like 3 best.

#3 splits the difference between #1 and #2.
Trebles a little too dominant in #2. That would get annoying. Bass is dominant in #1, which is great if that's what you're after. I'd prefer to play #1 and bring out the trebles more. Might be tough if you're banging on it with a flatpick, but simple if you're Travis picking. Last edited by zmf; 11-09-2019 at 08:20 PM. |

#1 had the most lush and full sound to my ears, easily my favorite.

I agree. I was just going off of his signature and assumed he played one of each. He shot me down on my assumption. 😂

I vote 3, 1, 2, and I'm guessing 3 is a Martin and 1 is a Gibson.

IMHO #3 was the cleanest and warmest which suits my ears best.
Followed closely by #1 with a slightly more brittle sound. #2 sounds great by itself, however in this side by side comparison it sounds like it may have a sock stuff inside it. 3 & 1 could be a change in nut/saddle material. All three could be the same guitar.
