Default New Build: Tahoe Guitars Bubinga/Bearclaw OMD

Larry Nair of Tahoe Guitars and I are starting a new build: a bubinga and bearclaw sitka OM deep body. The starting template for this guitar-which I've named "The Bubiclaw"- is based on a very fine 2010 Collings OM1H.

I will update the thread as we progress on the build.

The (quite raw) video linked below summarizes our tonewood selection. Please forgive the quality...smartphone camera.

The following links to a video of Larry plotting the bracing template from my Collings OM1H.

A bad pic of the bearclaw spruce. I'll get another and replace this one.

POST CLEAR PICTURES WHEN YOU CUT THAT COLLINGS IN HALF!!!!!

Are you going to use Bills method of neck bolts from the neck to the body, then nuts and washers inside the sound hole.

I'm thinking that's not going to happen. Taking a saw to such a fine guitar would be a crime.

It will be a two-bolt M/T joint, bolts through the block into the heel. It will not be as elaborate as Collings' M/T setup. I believe their joint involves a maple dowel as well (pics from FRETS.com):

Default Update: All Woody Bits Chosen

Here is a brief update on my bubinga/bearclaw OM deep body I am building with Larry Nair of [url=http://tahoeguitar.com]Tahoe Guitars.

All the wood parts are selected. I am going with curly walnut binding and end graft, black ebony bridge, fretboard and headplate. The neck will be sapele/maple/walnut/maple/sapele five-piece laminate.

The woody bits:
