For Sale: 2010 Kopp Roy Smeck Prototype - ON HOLD

I'm selling my 2010 Kopp Smeck prototype. This is a 12 fret to the body slope shoulder dread that sounds as good as it looks. Mahogany sides and single piece back. I have an email out to Kevin checking to see if he knows what type of spruce the top is; it's either Adirondack or Sitka. UPDATE: Kevin confirmed Adirondack top. Rosewood bridge and fretboard. The neck is a medium C, much like the vintage Gibsons that this is modeled after. Nut is 1 3/4" and string spacing is 2 1/4".

This guitar was originally purchased from Greg Boyd's in Montana. I have the original bill of sale which is nice (if you're into that sort of thing).

The sound is open and full. It's very sweet and even across the frequencies. It is an excellent strummer and is very responsive to fingerstyle as well.

Overall the condition is very good. I just had this serviced by our local luthier and this was inspected, set up and provided a clean bill of health. The neck is straight. The action is ideal at 5/64ths 12th fret low e and just a shade under 4/64ths 12th fret high e. I have D'Addario 12-53 PB XT's on there at the moment. The top has no significant dings or wear to note. The back and sides are overall very clean with only a couple light scuffs that are superficial and could be buffed out if you were interested. There is one small chip out of the top of the headstock.

This will ship with a new Ameritage gold case.

Things I suspect but can't confirm:
There was likely a small center seam separation at some point. The repair work is absolutely outstanding but at the right angle in the right light you can see slight ghosting where the nitro was touched up. On the inside of the center seam you can see slight evidence of CA glue. There is no separation. The seam is perfectly stable and the repair work is outstanding.

The frets have likely been leveled, crowned and polished once. They are in great shape currently with no significant wear and no need for any maintenance at all.

I'm asking $3,450 including shipping which I believe reflects the items noted about condition. This is a chance to own a beautiful sounding and looking Kopp with one of the best bursts in the business at a price you won't see very often.
