I use a Zoom H5 with 2 AT 2035 mics as a spaced pair. I record instrumentals only. For editing the sound file after uploading from the Zoom I will use iZotope's Rx 7 for most of my recordings.

The H5 is simple to use and it has built-in mics also. It runs on 4 AA batteries and uses a usb cord to connect to a computer for file transfer. If you are good with computers and know a bit about folders and file transfers its a good way to go as it allows people to get away from a desk top computer to record.

Recording guitar music is a very, very deep rabbit hole to fall into.

My best recording yet. Mic is closer and I’ve found a better position in the room:

Its a little bass heavy. Perhaps the mic is too close?

I have bought some of the materials to build some acoustic treatment, just need the time to build.

It doesn't sound too bass heavy in a couple listens on my headphones, but there's a bit of "woof" in it that you might try moving the mic a bit (inch-inches) out and more toward the neck. (I can't really see from the video angle where it's aimed, but looks like it might be pointed right at the soundhole.)

If you're not doing any work with the recording in a DAW it's quite serviceable IMO. But, it's not really cheating (again IMO) to put your recording in a DAW and adjust EQ and maybe add a bit of space when close micing.

Oh! What beautiful recordings, despite any quality issues. I enjoyed both videos very much.

I recommend you buy a pair of these:

They're just what you're after.

You will need phantom power. If you don't have it or are unsure what that means, say.

I’m not using a DAW. Its iphone with Shure MV88 attached. Press record and play! I love the simplicity.

This will be the next step for me, but I’m cautious about adding complexity to my setup. One day I will move to this, but for now I need to keep the simplicity.

Thank you for you kind comments on the recordings.
