I saw John Cleese on a news discussion programme last night where a fine BBC presenter was trying to ask him some serious questions , which he refused to take seriously, but he did remark that "Monty Python" was far more popular in the USA now than in the UK, adding that the BBC wonlt show them anymore as they prefer to show newer comedy acts - which doesn't seem all that unreasonable.

The conversation shown here is still funny of course, and makes me think of the sort of silly conversations that blokes can have in pubs after the second/third pint of "Old & Filthy" tanglefoot.

My best friend in high school, Alan, was a Scot, a real Glaswegian, freshly imported. That made him migrate-ry. His mother was an Aberdonian, with its lovely, gentle accent. Alan introduced me to Python, Monty and their albums and movies. I saw Mønti Pythøn ik den Hølie Gräilen over twenty times in the theater, mostly on Friday midnight madness showings. We discovered together that Matching Tie and Handkerchief was a three-sided album. I recall that British humor was an acquired taste. He also converted me into a musical Anglophile, a fact that I resent to this day.

Darn you, Alan.

The enduring legacy that is Holy Grail

A couple things you hear at my house all the time, mostly said by my wife, whom I have totally corrupted.

"I'm not dead yet"

Follow by

"I dont want to get on the cart"

"Help Help I'm being repressed"

"Run away! Run Away!"
