Default Will Taylor ebony bridge pins fit in a Martin?

I have a new set of Taylor ebony bridge pins sitting around. Was thinking of swapping out the plastic pins in my 00018 Martin. Will they fit ok?

Depends on what year the Martin was built. According to Bob Colosi (near bottom of the link), Taylor pins will fit Martins built before 1994 when they were using 3 degree tapers. Since 1994 Martin pins have been 5 degrees.

5 degree ebony pins are not expensive. Here's a good quality set I've been happy with.

If u have them already why not just try them? Just don’t “force” anything.

Jim, I'm pretty certain that Bob's date info isn't correct - although 1994 is widely believed to be the year the change took place, I've seen it on the UMGF that it was actually 1931 when they changed to 5-degree tapered pins.

So, provided that the diameter of the OP's pins is 0.220" below the skirt, they should fit. It's a very simple process to check - slack off a string, remove the existing pin, put the possible replacement pin in - Bingo! Im surprised that the OP doesn't seem to have simply done that already!

The usual disclaimers apply......IMHO, YMMV etc.

I’ve been using Martin Pins in my 110 for years.
I’d like to believe that going the other way wouldn’t be a problem?

If the info is wrong, I'm glad I credited Bob for it.
