Looking for Short scale cannon

Its became very apparent that i play alot better on shorter scale guitars. But i love the tone of a d-18ge etc. so here is my specs mahogany 24 3/4 or in that ballpark, 1 3/4 nut. adirondack top. Bourgeois is all that comes to mind. Collings has to hollow of a tone for me. ive seen the short scale d-18 but not adi.

I love a good j-45 and maybe i should try to find a good old one but still dont know if the best j-45 will hqng with a great d-18. but its taken years to figure out what i want and its gibson ergonomics with Martin bluegrass cannon tone.

I could do a custom build. Anyone ever made a short scale 12 fret d-18 golden era bracing thanks to all.

I'd advise you to check out a J45"vintage" from the last 2 or 3 years. They're reasonably consistent I think and imo they have no trouble standing beside a D18.

Fairbanks F-35. It effortlessly projects loud, crisp, direct, fundamental tone. I’ve got one as well as a new D-18 and in terms of sheer volume, the Fairbanks is more than a little louder.

Trust me a good 45 is every bit as good as a D18, but you really cannot compare the two, totally different beasts.

00018ge checks all the boxes with the exception of 12 fret.

This may be the exact opposite of what you are looking for, but Taylor made a short scale dred for a little while. Here's one with a mahogany b/s, Engelmann top. Like I said, it's probably not what you want, but it's interesting to look at (even though it has quite a bit of runout).

For a few bucks less, you might want to check out a Gibson J-15. I’ve found that mine has gotten increasingly louder as it breaks in.

oh no it's don't have to be 12. yeah the 000 18 ge is very much in the picture. also another Waterloo wlxtr this time in the 12 fret version. and a j-35 as well is in the running. I had one that I bought at gc with a bad seam separation fixed it and resold it

Depends on your budget. Frankly, anytime I hear "cannon", I think "Froggy Bottom". Pound for pound they're the loudest guitars I've ever played.

I'm not sure from your post if you're wanting a short-scale, 12 fret, or both. Many builders make short scale 12 and 14 fret guitars, and Larrivee in particular makes 12 fret long scale models.

The Froggy SJ is a 25" scale, 14 fret Gibson-ish body. Cannon indeed.

If you can find one, the Martin 000-18NB is an incredibly powerful guitar. It's 24.9" scale, 12 frets to the body. It has the standard OM size body; instead of extending the body to meet the neck at the 12th fret like most Martin 12-fretters, the bridge is moved down further below the sound hole. I like the fact that this means that when I reach for a first position chord, it's like reaching between the first and second fret on a standard design. The only place it misses your spec is nut width, which is 1 13/16".

Martin only made ~150 of them, but they do show up now and then here or on the Martin forum. They are much sought after and usually sell very quickly.

I'm fortunate to own one for about six years now. I had my wife make me a couple of large quilts to hang on the walls of my 8' x 10' guitar room and added a rug to absorb some of the sound as this thing actually hurt my ears when I played it hard.

Sure they will - if that's the sound, tone, look you're after. Order a short-scale D-18 from the custom shop.

Eastman E10OM could be what you're looking for (except it's a 14 fret). It punches well above it's weight.

The other is the Eastman E10SS except that nut might be a little tight for your liking.
