Default wow, serious tone and looks in this Bourgeois Luthier's Choice Big Red Small Jumbo

I like every part of it. Big fan of Courtney H playing also. I owned a quilted paduak Beneteau a couple years ago-i've seen it around here a time or two since, nice tone and looks.

Superb.

It sounds very good, but no better than other Guitars that size and build quality. I could never live with that neck, just butt ugly for me. Must of took a lot of work for sure.

Lovely tone, lovely playing but maybe just a little restraint in the fretboard inlay area would have helped my aesthetic sensibilities...

Never one to disparage any guitar as I think they're all beautiful in some way, this guitar was not served well by the inlay work, IMO.

Otherwise it's a work of art, as is the fretboard, they just don't work well together .

Been a big fan of courtneys playing for years.
Love the band Della Mae. She is a big fan of danas
guitars as well. She can certainly make any guitar
sound good.
The MOP fretboard is beautiful. Curious on
how that material would hold up to years of playing.

Beautiful guitar.

Beautiful instrument. That's an amazing sound for such light picking.

The fretboard is a little much for my taste.

I think they shot themselves in the foot with the overly ornate fret board, but otherwise a fine guitar. I don't understand the marketing thinking behind the fret board design.

Love everything about it EXCEPT all the bling! Dana can get some serious tone out of his guitars.

The really potentially sad thing about this amazing looking...and REALLY fantastic sounding guitar, is that because of how ultra fancy it is, it will never be treated and played as the super high performance musical instrument that it is.

Instead it will be treated as a "trophy/status" guitar and rarely and ultra carefully played. Mostly it will just sit in it's case, or locked up in some equally fancy display case...but...just sitting. Too pretty, too fancy, too much delicate fragile pearl, too thin and delicate of a finish, to risky to play, for fear of putting wear and tear on it and thus destroying the resale value that always seems to be the most important feature of guitars of this ilk.

Over the next few years, it is quite possible, nay likely?...even...we will see it bounce around through a number of owners whom will revel in it as a NGD extravaganza...but...once the oooohhhs and aahhhhssss of the "15 minutes of fame" is gone, they will become bored with a guitar "to pretty to play" and restless with having $$$$$ tied up into said "TPTP" guitar and move it down the road...yet again.

Which is a real shame...because THIS guitar is, and can be such an amazing musical instrument.

What would it's life be like if Dana had just made it plain, with just basic wood purfling and rosette, and a blank fingerboard and bridge and headstock veneer...but with the same woods, same glorious sunburst finish, and this same wonderful tone.

I hope I am wrong about it...

I'd love to see a travel-sized version... just so they can call it the Little Big Red Small Jumbo.

thats too funny.

good to see you on here Jim, have had some of your music rotating thru the bose all week. man, all that music you put out a couple years ago is awesome.
had some friends who heard me playing Castlerea last summer and they used the CD in their wedding for a couple songs.
still working thru the Celtic Guitar Solo's book, love the music in that and it was presented so well(the instructional CD with it helps so much)
