Default What is Wrong With the Waterloo Wl-12?

My question is to those that have experienced the Waterloo WL-12 guitar and now have the knowledge to give me as to why you no longer long to experience the Waterloo WL-12 guitar.

I found it, as well as several of the other Waterloo models to just be too “blah” for their own good.

The hands down best thing in the whole line-up, however, is the WL-12 all
Mahogany. Whatever the spruce/maple wl-12 lacks, the all hog seems to get right on the nose. It’s the only Waterloo I wish I’d kept.

I have never particularly liked maple B&S, so I'm not surprised that the WL-12 might leave something to be desired. My WL-12Mh leaves nothing on the table, though.

Blaspheme! I sold my WL-14 and kept the WL-12.

I do agree the WL-12 wouldn't be to everyone's taste tho. I bought mine used not long after the model was introduced and I am it's third owner, so two owners passed it on pretty quickly.

My WL12 is one of the finest guitars I've ever had the privilege of owning, and I don't ever plan to part with it. Those Collings guys know exactly what they're doing.

My WL-12 is a joy to play and listen to. The tone is definitely different from Mahogany (for example) but it's a sweet sounding guitar.

I love my WL-12, too. The only reason I could imagine selling it would be to allow me to buy a WL-S.

My collection has taken years to get to its current guitars. The WL-12 fits right in. Just because they are a more inexpensive line does not mean they aren’t mind blowing. My only 00 guitars are a 1935 L-00, a 1937 00-17 and a 2018 WL-12. It belongs.

Sorry, but I still love my one year old WL-12. I don’t have an extensive collection like most in this forum, so the WL-12 compliments my 10 year old Taylor 214. The WL-12 sounds great to my ear for blues and acoustic rock with a very clear and pronounced mid-range. It makes the Taylor sound really even and mellow for Hawaiian slack key.

I wonder - do people consider Taylor GAs to be “mellow”? Maybe it’s because it’s 10 years old and/or the bone nut and saddle and other adjustments done by a luthier?
