1987 Martin D-28P, Just re-set/refretted - PRICE DROP #2
PRICE DROP: from $2250 to $2150, now $2000 even, shipped.
I received this D-28P last year as part of a trade for an amp, and have always been very happy with the sound, but it became clear that it was in need of a neck reset, so I had that done earlier this spring by Michael Baskin at MA Bashkin Guitars in Fort Collins, CO. He really did a superb job - reset the neck, refretted, and everything plays super cleanly now, tons of bridge left - good for another 30 years. The fretboard had some dive that he had to remove as part of the reset, shimming it with ebony so well that you would never notice there was more than one piece of wood unless someone told you to look for it (see pics). However, while the guitar was in the shop, I picked up a Bourgeois D18 style guitar, and being more of a mahogany sort of guy, I think I'm now set on the Dreadnought front with that guitar. As part of the shuffle, I got rid of an 000-18GE that caused some hand numbness for me, and I'd really like to get into another OM/000 or maybe 00 sized guitar for recording. The sound is nice and woody, sweet and warm with good punch (if you want sound clips, let me know). Really quite clean for a 31 year old instrument - I've tried to document all the dings I see in photos. Set up with 12s. Has a K&K Pure Mini installed. DOES have a truss rod. IER bridge plate. Has original warranty documentation, repair note from Bashkin. 'P' is for the performing artist neck profile. Super comfortable neck. I think the 'P' necks now are thinner than this. Has original molded hard shell case - works fine and closes, but has a bend in the edge of the top part on the neck area that doesn't line up (see pics). Let me know if you have other questions. Price is maybe slightly high for the year, but as you can see, it's got $1000 of first class work into it that you won't have to worry about vs similar instruments. Probably just looking to sell. Limited to 15 actual pic links, so use the remaining links to view the case and docs. http://www.boblefevremusic.com/temp/D28/d28_16.jpg http://www.boblefevremusic.com/temp/D28/d28_17.jpg http://www.boblefevremusic.com/temp/D28/d28_18.jpg http://www.boblefevremusic.com/temp/D28/d28_19.jpg http://www.boblefevremusic.com/temp/D28/d28_20.jpg Last edited by LookerBob; 06-05-2018 at 04:24 PM. |

Nice! That top is gorgeous!
Can't recall, what does the "P" stand for?

I believe it is the 'Performance' neck profile... or maybe the 'Professional' neck profile? Performer?

Would be interested in some cash + a neat 20w or so 6V6 amp, or some cash and an 000/OM/00 sized Martin or Gibson...
