Mike I wanted to tell you that during my trip I did manage to see this guitar in its flesh and hold it up in the sunshine briefly. There is great silking on the creamy white Engelmann and the BRW is just like double dark chocolate. It oozes character. You can just tell by looking at it that this is gonna turn out to be a very special instrument.

Thanks for the first hand account! I'm about as excited about this one as any I've ever had built because I knew this guitar's sister...and she was a beauty inside and out...and boy could she sing!! John told me that the silking on this Englemann was almost like "figuring" and so I can't wait to see it in person with a little bit of "Tony love" sprinkled over it

Default The neck getting some lacquer

Three coats of lacquer to be followed with wet sanding and three more coats of lacquer. Under all the lacquer there is epoxy filler and a thin layer of shellac for adhesion to the lacquer.

The body is still at Tony’s shop

What a wonderful project this has been for Mike and John. I can’t wait to see and hear this beauty when she is finished. Congrats to both.

Great looking neck John! It should look great on the guitar. Thank you for posting this picture, and thank you for the additional effort you put into your builds to make them special.

Thanks for your customary enthusiasm Paul. The guitar is still with Tony, and I hope to see some pics of the guitar soon. Waiting has never been easy for me...

Waiting...

"Thanks for your customary enthusiasm Paul. The guitar is still with Tony, and I hope to see some pics of the guitar soon. Waiting has never been easy for me..."

I understand! Me either... and, John's instruments and Tony's killer super thin super hard, and super LOUD finish are well worth waiting for.

My new PABLO is the best guitar I have ever played! No kidding, John's stuff just keeps getting better and better.

So, I have put in an order for JK Custom number SIX. Apparently there a couple folks ahead of me, and I believe you are one of em. So I will be waiting again myself... hahahaha

Hope ALL is well for you and your family and friends. Better times ahead, just around the corner.

Salud
Paul

Default John Kinnaird West Coast Build

One I shouldn't have sold, John Kinnaird West Coast #126, African Blackwood/Sinker Redwood with Florentine cutaway and double bevel....absolutely stunning. You are going to be one happy camper! Congrats!

Default A little taste of the finished instrument sans neck

Back from Tony

I’m very pleased with how it turned out. This is how I envisioned it but there was some anxiety.

It’s hard to take a casual of picture of a shiny black guitar. You can see more of my shop than the guitar

Paul, Thanks buddy. John tells me we're 2-3 weeks from having this one done and on it's way. My anticipation is really high. I'm yet to play one of John's guitars that didn't tickle my tonal tastebuds...hopefully this one will also.

Hey John, thanks for posting these pics. Can't wait to see it with a neck and strings
