To Bling or Not to Bling
Be honest folks. It's just for fun.
Sunbursts don't count.

To bling or not to bling....
THAT..... is the question.
For me, no, or a minimum of bling. Maybe MOP for the soundhole inlay and subtle inlays rather than just dots. More than that is a waste of money that doesn't improve the tone or playability of the instrument. Just my less than humble opinion.

I suppose I should have asked if a 28 style regardless of maker is bling.
I can like herringbone and simple binding around fretboard or headstock. I like pretty wood grain to show off but not all colors of stain some use. When I see super fancy 45 style or customs I will have appreciation for the skills to make it but honestly, the too fancy makes the guitars just like the sort of wife and life style I'm glad I do not have. Keep it simple and in good taste. I can't stand gold placed hardware in most circumstances. My hangup, but metal should be solid and if plated for a functional reason such as chrome or nickel. If brass is gold and it's natural or polished brass that's fine.

One of the things I particularly liked about my (former) 000-15M was the lack of adornment. Such 'clean' simple lines! Now I appreciate only the look of my Cargo. I kinda like looking at bling but prefer not to own it.

My first nice acoustic was a Lyle Hummingbird. MOP, cherry red sunburst. Bling is fun!

I'm not sure what a 'lot' or a 'little' is - to me, a 45 trim is a little tasteful bling.
This is a lot: |

I answered the poll appropriately for me but I would go with if I found a killer/great guitar that had more bling than I normally want, I would still buy it because of the sound not the bling.

I am not yet 60 and I own one guitar that has excessive bling, so called. But the guitar happens to far and away measure up to all the sparkle too.

I tried a little over a week ago to get an Blinged out Eastman, but it just wasn't meant to be. Probably as close as i will ever get. Is herringbone considered bling?
I voted for some bling over 60. Maybe i'm unclear on the concept. Tom

I LOVE the look (and the workmanship) of the Taylor Presentation Series guitars, but would feel a little uncomfortable playing one (only because I feel they call so much attention to themselves- my ability doesn't stand up to THAT kind of scrutiny!)
That said, I have no such problem with the 900 series.

Then again, I consider the abalone around the soundhole and top of my Pono tasteful as well. It isn't "overdone"
