Default The view from 61 floors up

Got a chance to go to the top floor of Salesforce Tower today, the highest building on the west coast at 62 floors and 1,070 feet.

Pretty freaking amazing to be looking down on all those tall buildings. Amazing views today! Thought it was worth sharing with y'all.

As someone who once worked halfway between the Transamerica pyramid and Coit Tower (almost 30 years ago) where is the Salesforce building? Did it used to be called something else? From the photos, I put it as somewhere South of Market / SOMA.

Maybe I've never seen this building before. But I still think of it as Candlestick Park.....

Very cool!

Nice perspective ... kinda gives you a different "view" of all the goings on ... also makes me kinda want a nice smooth bourbon and a cigar to sit and enjoy it with.

Thanks for sharing.

Well next time you're near the city, you won't miss it. It's a third again taller than anything around it. It's on Mission, as you rightly guess, between First and Fremont. Lots of new towers in SOMA.

Thanks. Most of those towers were not there "back in the day", and I get to SF very rarely now. I was planning on attending a technical conference at Moscone Center in 2011, but my trip fell though at the last minute.

Man, the City has changed!

Is that San Francisco and is that the Golden Gate bridge in the distance in the last shot and Alcatraz in the 2nd last shot?

Pretty view. Might be interesting during an earthquake.

...these are very cool shots Dirk, thanks for sharing them.
As a Florida coastal guy who has spent only a handful times on the West Coast with relatives who now live in Norcal/Paradise; I would like to know regarding earthquakes what structural measures they take to avoid issues during a quake.

Thanks! I’m no expert on engineering but found this with a quick google search. Assume there are other writings.

A buddy of mine was a sommelier the Carnelian Room (52nd floor) during the '89 earthquake and he said the chanderleirs were swinging and hitting the ceiling.
He thought his life was over.

As someone said before, "would be interesting during an earthquake." I'll pass!!

It is open to the public in some way, not sure the details, and they also make the conference rooms available to local non-profits on the “Ohana Floors” of each building. The 61st is the Ohana floor of Salesforce tower.

Wow! What an amazing view.

I was outside on the roof of the World Trade Center back in 2000. Amazing views.
