Wade, I assume you don’t have a fireplace or wood stove, which is too bad. Hope you can keep warm. You and your wife, be well!

Good luck Wade! I hope your heat comes back on real soon! Very glad to hear Mrs. Wade is OK too!

Best to both of you,
PJ

Default Anchorage Earthquake

The power came back on a few minutes ago but the heat did not; my wife just called our longtime HVAC provider to try to get them to come out and fix it, only to be told that they’re not leaving Anchorage and to find somebody out here to do the work.

Fortunately, it’s not especially cold by Alaskan standards. But it’s starting to get chilly in the house.

We’re continuing to have aftershocks as I write this; three since I started writing this post. Some you barely notice, others shake hell out of everything.

So this is a little different than our normal routine!

Anyway, we have warm clothing, and we’re hunkered down and going NOWHERE that we don’t have to go. We’ve all been advised to boil our drinking water, so we’re being cautious about that.

So we’re here and we’re safe, even if we’re not exactly having a wonderful time at the moment. Thanks again for your expressions of concern.

Thank God you and your wife are ok Wade. Hope you get a chance to hug each other and perhaps play some guitar to calm the nerves. Please keep us posted.

Hear that. I am on the south side of the San Gabriel mountains from you in the Inland Empire.

Y'all ok? Saw the news on the way home and thought to write. Our thoughts are with you.

Also agree. Thought I read somewhere that Wade was OK. ( & guitars too ) ... .However*, I can't find the post now???? AGF is being weird for me as well, but it may be my internet. can't tell.

Thoughts & prayers are with anyone affected and in the region.. and hopefully I'm not speaking out of turn.. if this information isn't accurate then I am very sorry. .

God bless ..

Scott

I found myself thinking of Wade this afternoon, watching all the coverage.

Glad to know he, and his stable of guitars, are well.

Glad to hear you and your wife are ok. Guitars can be replaced but glad to hear they are ok too. Wishing you warmth and peace Wade Hampton. I’m always thankful for your expertise here on the forum.

I am glad to read you are doing okay, Wade. I heard from my sister in Eagle River not far from you and she had similar damage and problems but no one was hurt and their house is intact. Earthquakes are no fun!

We got the heat back on!! Hooray!!!

The aftershocks are continuing, and they’re starting to scare as well as annoy me. I suspect we’ll be shaken awake a few times tonight.

Thanks again for your concern and good wishes. Earlier I exchanged a few emails with my friend in Seattle, the international man of mystery who posts on here under the screen name “Mycroft,” who - when I pointed out the considerable danger to Seattle from Mount Rainier, which is a MAJOR volcano - wrote in response:

“Volcanoes and we are due for a big quake too. That’s what happens when you live somewhere geologically interesting.”

Well put, Mycroft.

Thanks again to all of you.
