And he could play several other instruments at the same virtuoso level, not just guitar. I like to play "Yesterday When I Was Young". Thanks for all the entertainment and smiles, Roy.

A lot of folks might remember him only from HeeHaw.

Look behind the cornball humor and you’ll find a really fine guitarist. We will miss you, Roy.

Was he the guy who did a guest appearance on the Andy Griffith show and ripped it up? Someone posted a video of that here at some point...

He was a fabulous musician as well as a wonderful entertainer. Lots of good memories of him and his musical offerings. My dad was a huge Hee Haw fan so many times we watched it together.

Best,
Jayne

Wow...so sad. That man could play the livin' heck out of any instrument with strings.

I was in a guitar shop in Tulsa about 25 years ago picking up a Telecaster I was getting fixed up and one of his techs or roadies came in to drop off one of his guitars (an electric Gibson L6-S) and I got to play it for a couple minutes. It felt like an honor to play an instrument he had played.

He will be missed. One of those icons where once they depart this veil, there's nobody who can fill their shoes.

I've never been a big C&W fan, but, boy, could that man play! I once heard him play classical (Ed Sullivan show, maybe?) -- pretty faultlessly. I hope he's still somewhere "apickin' and agrinnin' " If it had strings, 4,5,6,12, or whatever, Roy Clark could play it with complete virtuosity.

He was like no other. Truly an original.

One thing always came through as he played... He really enjoyed playing, he had fun.

We should all remember that.
