Default NGD Gibson J-45 Studio

Recently played a J-15 and really liked it, but playing a dread tires my right shoulder. Then, I found the J-45 studio. Basically the same woods (spruce top, walnut back and sides), but a slightly thinner body, different neck wood and different neck profile. I loved it. Went back to the store twice to try it before I bought it on the third visit. Very comfortable guitar to play and I love the sound of a walnut guitar. A little brighter than a traditional J-45 but very balanced. I've read that some consider walnut to be between mahogany and rosewood. That's a fair assessment. Also, the J-45 studio comes in at a great price for an all solid wood guitar. Gibson got it right on this one...

Brighter than a regular 45? That has to be a good thing!

Congratulations

I've been thinking about that guitar because of the thinner body. I'll have to get over to Sam Ash and look for one.

Yes, and I like the new neck profile as well. Very comfortable.

Cool guitar! I am tempted to take a chance on a J-45 Avant Garde Walnut... I like the slimmer body as J45s are quite large!

Congrats. I have also test driven this guitar a couple of times. These Gibby Slopes have Short-Scale fretting which is a real joy to play, especially if you like to bend a Note here and there. It’s got a great feel to it and a lot of content for the money. I much prefer the nitrocellulose finish to the “beeswax” on the Sustainable. I’m waiting to play the 000-28MD but it’s twice the price. I may end up with one yet.

Complete agreement here. I couldn't believe how good the studio model was when I saw it. Miles better than the 15for me. I had to buy it. But then I've always loved the walnut tone, it's a lightweight guitar which I think helps and I love everything about it.

I’d like to add, KUDOS to Gibson for introducing this innovative, unique twist on their classics using a 1st World Sustainable Wood. I hope they are highly suvpccessful and on the market for years to come. I’m tired of certain other makers introducing a sustainable one year then discontinuing it the next after zero marketing and promotion.

Very cool! I had a J-15 and thought it was a fine guitar...especially at that price point. So your J-45 Studio has gotta sound great. Congrats!
