We now have a built guitar! As I always do, I took out my photo lights and camera to shoot a round of photos, before the finish goes on. Here are a few pictures of Mike's guitar "in the white".
The finishing work begins on Monday.

Thanks for looking!

Wonderful Steve. Everything looks great. Put me down as a fan of the new bridge shape as well!

Mike...even though Steve is a pretty-darn-good photographer...

Pictures don’t do her justice. 🤔🤭😲

Thanks very much! I'm very happy with the whole experience, and of course with how the guitar is coming out.

Thank Dennis, I’m inclined to agree! Steve keeps talking about “secret sauce” and tap tones, getting me pumped for how she’ll sound. Meanwhile, I really love the way the design all came together. Always appreciate your comments!

We’re midway through spraying lacquer now, and Mike asked for an update with some new photos. I have two more coats to spray today (second round), and I don’t usually post photos at this stage. It is, quite literally, like watching paint dry!

I finish neck and body separately, and it usually looks pretty sloppy and gloppy at this stage. It’s a pretty long and involved process, doing a proper lacquer finish, involving three rounds of sprayed coats, with lots of sanding in between; and when that’s all done, the lacquer needs to cure until hard enough to buff.
IMG_0596.jpgIMG_0597.jpgIMG_0599.jpgIMG_0601.jpgIMG_0603.jpgIMG_0605.jpg
But before that, the finish needs to be wet-sanded at progressively finer grits, from 600 all the way to 2000. That takes a lot of elbow grease! And then, hours more of buffing, polishing, buffing, polishing...
So, though it doesn’t look like much right now, it will be positively radiant when it’s all done.

I don’t see anything gloppy! I see a deep, dark richness and love the way this is looking. I like seeing interim shots, kind of the caterpillar becoming a butterfly, it isn’t just “poof and it’s done”; there are step in between, and I love seeing the transformation. Thanks for posting, Steve, and for the gorgeous work!

wow! This is gorgeous!! Whenever I need a lift, it's always good to come check out AGF and then find gems like this in progress.

And not only is it beautiful, it has secret sauce! It's going to be something!

Gorgeous Mike! That is just a spectacular piece. My sense is that it is going to FAR surpass that Taylor you've missed in every way. I absolutely love the new bridge design.

Excited for you!
