Default Gator studio monitor clamps A++

Wow, what an improvement, got back desk space too. There's a night/day difference in the stereo field. On the desk w/ isolation pads music sounded like it was coming from the speakers,.. on the stands at correct height the music floats in the air, like it should.

As w/ anything it's, location, location, location. I can't believe the improvement in already fine monitors (Kali LP-8) by proper positioning. A most excellent $99 upgrade.

Great Idea, but I would think they would benefit from some kind of rubber Iso Pad between the spk. and plate stand ???

They do work great,... (the benefit of an isolation pad is to decouple your monitors from a large surface, desk or floor).

The Gator plate surface is small, basically the size of the monitor and there's really nothing to decouple from. The surface is lined w/ a soft EVA material,.. the stands eliminate the need for an isolation pad.

Well thinking about it more, going down to the small clamp certainly reduces size of transfer area
Ah,,, So they they already have some ISO between the spk bottom and support plate that's pretty jiffy

The Kali LP-8s are about as big a monitor I'd want to set in a vertical position (and I have them tilted forward a bit), I think it would be unstable w/ pads. To be safe I'd want to wrap the whole thing w/ tie-wraps if I used iso pads.

But like you mention, there's not a lot of area to transfer sound. I just checked the desk and stands for vibrations while playing back bass tracks and it's so minimal,.. and the advantage of proper positioning is such a big deal for the stereo soundscape. Panning and mixing should be much more accurate and quicker.
